Meta Threads to Hold 3v3 EASHL Tournament Backed by Major Sponsors

Last updated:

Meta Threads will hold a 3v3 EASHL NHL 20 tournament produced by Space Esports early next week, with a sponsorship-backed prize package totaling $2,700 USD, Meta Threads announced. The tournament’s partners include Astro Gaming, GFUEL, Kontrol Freek, Techni Sport, and Gamers Outreach.

The 3v3 tournament, with teams composed of three skaters and a goalie, will feature as the NHL 20 Monday Night Meta tournament, part of a weekly free-to-enter series held by Meta Threads, produced by Space Esports and presented by Astro Gaming. Up to 64 teams (to register by Friday, February 14) will play a best-of-one, double-elimination bracket on Sunday, February 16th, with the winners, losers, and grand finals competing in a best-of-three bracket on Monday, February 17th. The tournament will be played on Xbox One and is open to players throughout North America.

A variety of sponsors will contribute gear and accessories to the prize packages for the NHL 20 Monday Night Meta 3v3 tournament. Members of the winning team will each take home up a prize package worth around $600 USD, while the second-place team will snag a smaller reward. Astro, Meta Threads, GFuel, Kontrolfreek, and Techni Sport are all contributing sponsors.

Monday Night Meta is one of a few other 3v3 EASHL tournaments that have been held during the NHL 20 season and is the first public, free-to-enter tournament. We Got Game! Esports hosted a small-scale NHL 20 Threes event in London, Ontario, but teams were required to pay an entry fee and a subsequent live-event fee. NHL content creator Nasher and World Gaming held a weekly Threes tournament in fall 2019, but the event settled into arcade 3v3 mode after debuting as an EASHL competition.

Here’s the full outline of the 1st and 2nd place prize packages for NHL 20 Monday Night Meta, which figures to be worth $2,700 USD in total prizes.

  • Astro: A40 Headset + C40 Controller ($350)
