Columbus Blue Jackets to Host 2nd Annual NHL esports Tournament
# OF QUALIFIERS
The Columbus Blue Jackets are officially taking another stab at NHL esports in 2020, it was confirmed after they announced the second annual CBJ NHL 20 Tournament.
This year’s tournament is largely the same as their inaugural event: a 1v1 NHL 20 tournament, consisting of two online qualifiers, culminating in a live LAN final to be played at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The event is open to players from Canada and the USA and features a $7,500 prize pool, that will be shared between the two finalists as well as the runners-up for each online qualifier.
Players will be able to qualify for the final by playing through online qualifiers hosted by Smash.gg. There will be one online qualifier for each console, hosted on separate days. Registration for online qualifiers closes on March 14, 2020. Head over to the tournament site using the button below to register.
The online portion of the tournament will feature two Best-of-1 double-elimination brackets (one per console) that will be played out to determine the finalists. The finals will be played in a Best-of-Five series. The winner of the tournament will win $5,000, tickets to the Blue Jackets vs Capitals game on March 19th, and will also get a chance to play against Columbus native, NHL & hockey influencer, Andrew ‘Nasher’ Telfer.
