Hockey influencer and NHL Gaming World Championship analyst, Andrew “Nasher” Telfer, announced earlier this week that he will be running his own version of the infamous “Friday Fortnite” weekly gaming tournaments in NHL 20 – called “Friday Night Chel”.
FNC, as it’ll be known, is an online weekly invitational tournament that will feature the most prominent NHL 20 creators and players, along with some other special guests. Eight team captains will be chosen, and they will craft a team of four to help them battle it out in the EASHL 3s game mode to win their share of the $600 weekly prize pool. Games will be played in EASHL 3s, and the event is open to Canadian and American gamers – sorry again, Euros. The tournament will be hosted on WorldGaming.com.
The winner of each week will win $100, and at the end of 8 weeks, the top 12 players that have accumulated the most points during the event will earn a spot in the Grand Finals Bracket where they will compete for a piece of the $500 grand prize pool.
Viewers wanting to watch the games can follow Nasher on Twitch, as well as all of the other team captain’s streams that will be found in the NHL 20 Twitch directory every Friday night.
The event begins on September 20, 2019, and runs weekly on Friday nights at 8:00PM EST.
This tournament is hosted by WorldGaming, so make sure to head over to the NHL 20 official NHL 20 tournament page to keep up-to-date on the latest results and sign-up for other online tournaments!
Each week, eight team captains from around the NHL community will be invited to play in the tournament. Each captain will be tasked with putting together their own team of four players and will compete in a double-elimination bracket. The upper/winners bracket will be a Best-of-3 format and the lower/losers bracket will be a Best-of-1.
