The Minnesota Wild extended the list of NHL teams that are investing in esports after they announced their first ever NHL gaming tournament in collaboration with the 2018 NHL GWC esports tournament organizer, FaceIt. The finals will be hosted live at the Mall of America on February 18, 2019 where four lucky gamers will compete for their share of the $7,400 USD prize pool.

The 2019 Wild Gaming Tournament will consist of two online qualifiers – one per console – and then a live final for the Top 2 players of each qualifier.

This event is open to Canadian and American gamers only (except for Hawaii and Alaska – sorry Johnwaynee). The prize pool will be split by console, so there is no single winner of this event. $3,700 will be split between the Xbox One finalists, and the other half of the pool will be split between the PS4 finalists.

The timing of the qualifiers and final are an issue for players looking to win multiple tournaments. These qualifiers will conflict with those of the Bolts Chel Challenge and Caps esports Face-off that are also happening on the same weekend. The finals of this tournament will take place on the same day as the Winnipeg Jets NHL 19 Tournament as well. Players must choose the event they want to compete in, and viewers will have to head over to Multi Twitch to watch the finals of the two tournaments simultaneously.

Fans can watch individual players live-stream their games during the online qualifiers (dates below) by visiting NHL 19’s Twitch page. The Wild will also be broadcasting the Grand Finals (02/18/2019) on their official Twitch channel. Additionally, at the finals event, the Wild will host a pro-am tournament where mall guests can face off against Minnesota Wild players. Space is limited though, so make sure you’re one of the first in attendance to get the chance to play.

The full tournament schedule and tournament format are also outlined in detail below.
